Forged bar is what you buy when the part has to be sound in the centre as well as the skin. A forging ratio of at least 4:1 breaks up the cast structure, closes porosity and gives a microstructure that responds predictably to heat treatment.
Grain size 6 or finer, hydrogen ≤2.0 ppm, non-metallic inclusion ratings ≤2.0 (coarse and fine series) on the grades where these are specified.
Options: electric-furnace melting plus ladle refining and vacuum degassing as standard, electroslag remelting for higher cleanliness.
Diameter Φ80–Φ1200 mm, with Φ1500 mm on special order; length 1–18 m or cut to fixed length.
Black surface tolerance −0/+3 to −0/+5 mm; turned −0/+2 mm; straightness ≤3 mm per metre.

Seamless rolled rings up to 7.5 m outside diameter, IT7–IT9 tolerance.
